Our Beliefs
We believe in the historic Christian faith as reflected in these statements:
God
We believe God is the loving Creator of all things, both seen and unseen. God is eternal and completely good, knowing all things, having all power and majesty. God exists as one God with three distinct personalities: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God passionately desires a relationship with us, a relationship of faith, friendship, learning, and service.
Genesis 1:1; John 14:6-9, 14:15-17, and 16:7-15; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 John 4:9-10
Jesus Christ
We believe God expressed himself in human form through Jesus Christ, His Son. Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, was crucified for our salvation, was buried, rose again from the dead, and has ascended to heaven. On some future day, He will return as our victorious Lord.
Colossians 1:13-23, 2:8-14; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8; Matthew 22:36-40; John 14:1-3; Hebrews 1:1-3; Acts 10:42-43; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God sent from God to live inside all who believe in Jesus Christ. He teaches, comforts, and empowers us, giving each follower diverse gifts.
Romans 5:5, 8; 1 Corinthians 12-14; Galatians 5:16-25; Ephesians 3:16, 4:3-4, 5:18; John 14:26, 16:7-14
The Bible
We believe the Bible is God's Word containing God's unchangeable truth for our lives. It is without error and is our guide for all we say and do,
Matthew 5:17-19; 2 Timothy 2:15, 3:14-17; Hebrew 4:12; 2 Peter 1:16-21, 3:14-18; Psalm 19:7-11, 119:9-16; Joshua 1:7-8
Salvation
We believe all people are created in the image of God to live in relationship with God. However, through our sin (violating God's moral standards), we broke our relationship with God. The breaking of this relationship with God has resulted in our seperation from God, and with that seperation, many negative consequences for both this life and the life to come.
However, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to rescue us from those consequences and to restore our broken relationships with Him and with others. As we believe in Jesus, particularly in His death on the cross, we are reunited with God once more.
1 Peter 2:24, 3:18; Romans 3:9-28, 6:23, 10:9-10; John 3:16, 5:24; Ephesians 2:1-10; Titus 3:3-8; James 2:14-26
BaptismWe believe the Bible teaches that we are to repent of our sins, confess Jesus Christ as our Savior, and be immersed into Christ through baptism. Baptism is a picture of the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It symbolizes new birth, cleansing, and forgiveness.
Acts 2:38-39; John 3:5; Col 2:11-12; 1 Peter 3:21The Church
We believe the church is the body of Christ which is led by Christ. The members of the church are those who have become followers of Christ by believing in Him and being baptized into Him. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by sharing Him with the world.
Matthew 16:13-18; Acts 2:14-47Communion
Communion, the eating of bread and drinking of wine during the worship service, is a memorial of Christ's sacrifice and a reminder of Christ's forgiveness.
1 Cor 11:23-32; Acts 2:42
